The Power of the “What If” Game in Self-Defense

My favorite way to stay prepared and alert is to play the “What If” game.   What if the guy I just passed going the opposite direction on the running path turns around and starts following me?   What if the man approaching me in the parking lot gets aggressive?  What if I feel like I am being followed while driving?  It’s important to stay mentally prepared but not paranoid.     

The goal of the “What If” game is not to create fear, but to build readiness through visualization. Thinking through different scenarios trains your brain to respond faster and with more confidence. Over time, it becomes second nature to assess your surroundings and plan your next move.
